していせき · shiteiseki
reserved seat
What it means
A seat assigned to you on one train. The ticket is valid for that train only, and it shows your car number and seat number.
Watch for
Many trains carry both reserved and non-reserved cars. Reserved cars are marked 指定席 and non-reserved cars 自由席, so check your car number before you board.
