Arriving on the Kyūshū Shinkansen for Fukuoka Airport? Leave by the Shinkansen Central Gate (新幹線中央口). Follow 地下鉄 and then 空港線・福岡空港方面. JR West confirms lift access from platforms 11–16 to the Central Gate. Fukuoka City Subway lists lifts at its Central Entrance from the JR concourse to the subway concourse and on to the platform. The walk between the JR gate and the subway lift still needs step-free verification. Ask staff at the gate before continuing.
At Hakata, can I change from the Shinkansen to the airport subway using lifts?
JR West shows lifts from Shinkansen platforms 11–16 to the Shinkansen Central Gate. The subway shows lifts from the JR concourse to its concourse and platform. Ask staff at the JR gate for the step-free way to the subway lift. That connecting stretch still needs verification.
For the JR Kyushu staffed ticket office (みどりの窓口), head towards the conventional-line Central Gate (中央改札口). JR Kyushu’s plan identifies this as its only such office at Hakata. The Maing gate (マイング) is marked IC-card only. At the 7 November 2026 check, JR Kyushu listed the staffed counter at 07:00–22:00 and machine collection of eligible online bookings at 04:45–23:20. Staff may be away during breaks or station rounds. Recheck the station page before an early or late collection.
From the Chikushi entrance (筑紫口), JR West lists level access to the Shinkansen Central Gate on floor 1. The Hikari Plaza gate (ひかり広場口) is on floor 2; a lift connects it to the same entrance.
A signed transfer can include stairs. For a continuous lift route and boarding assistance, confirm the platforms and onward operator with station staff.
