You can reach Kurume on selected Mizuho trains. Check the actual stop list before boarding. Once here, the station plan distinguishes the transfer gate from the gates leading out towards the city.

Which gate at Kurume takes me from the Shinkansen to trains towards Hita?

Follow 新幹線乗換口, the transfer gate for conventional JR trains. On the other side, look for the Kyūdai Main Line (久大本線) towards Hita (日田).

Finding your way

For the bus stands, follow Machinaka Exit (まちなか口), the east exit. Suitengū Exit (水天宮口) is on the west. JR marks taxi ranks on both sides, so agree on an exit before meeting a driver.

Platforms

Shinkansen platforms are 11 and 12; conventional platforms are 1–5. On JR’s plan, Hita (日田) and Ōmuta (大牟田) are different directions on the conventional network. Use your train’s departure board to pick the platform.

At the 7 November 2026 check, JR Kyushu listed the staffed counter at 07:00–21:00 and machine collection of eligible online bookings at 04:40–23:20. Staff may be away during breaks or station rounds. Recheck the station page before an early or late collection.
