The bogie changes its response
A stiff response that steadies a train at Shinkansen speed can increase lateral forces on tighter conventional-line curves. Variable yaw-damper performance lets the E6 address both conditions.

The narrow body and dual-voltage equipment serve the converted conventional line to Akita. The 2013 conference reported 300 km/h at introduction; JR East’s later guide gives 320 km/h for Shinkansen operation.

Car numbers identify the ends. Either end can lead as the train changes direction.
Simplified end views · covers closed · lamps unlit
Both closed noses look very similar head-on. Check the car number beside a passenger door: E611 is the Green Car end, E621 the Ordinary end. The normal coupling to an E5 or H5 is at car 11.
The four lamp apertures sit high beside the cab glazing. The long nose projects towards you in this view, so the approximately 13 m nose length is foreshortened. A side view reveals its length much more clearly.
These original studies show shared shape and colour placement. Fine seams, wipers, coupling internals, underfloor equipment and exact proportions are omitted. They support comparison; use the linked photographs to inspect construction details.

Look for cars 11–17 on the platform when boarding the seven-car E6. JR East lists all seats as reserved on Komachi; a seat plan for this series also covers other services.
